Former Middleweight champ Giardello didn’t take to how he was depicted in the film The Hurricane. As a result, he sued and settled out of court. Later versions of the film on DVD revealed commentary footage by the director who admitted to twisting the fight scenes.
The fast and relentless, Giardello won a decision over Rubin Carter in 1964. The film decided, for dramatic effect no doubt, to take the decision and portrayed it as unjust and racially motivated.
